UW-System Seeing Record Applications for Fall Semester

(WRN) The UW-System is reporting record applications for the upcoming fall semester.

The UW-System is reporting record applications for the upcoming fall semester. The total number of applications is up 30 percent over 2020. UW System President Tommy Thompson says he's working to allow students as many chances to get into UW-System schools as possible.

"We're waiving the application fee except for Madison. La Crosse and Eau Claire and we've been able to allow students to apply the multiple universities with one application."

"We have an increase of underrepresented minorities, we have an increase in our first generation families, and what is also very exciting to me is we have an increase in Wisconsin residents."

"These students want to go to college and they were sort of deprived of a senior year in high school, so I think there's a lot of impetus."

Thompson says that allows for flexibility for both students and for administrators when it comes time for application approvals.
