Granton Village Board Hears Update about Scoreboard

Sunday, September 16th, 2018 -- 9:27 AM

The Granton Village Board heard an update on the scoreboard at their meeting on Wednesday.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the scoreboard arrived on August 23rd. With the help of Tractor Central, Jason Strey and a fork lift, they were able to get the scoreboard out of the semi. Kuhl Implement and Chris Pernsteiner showed up with a lift to help install the scoreboard. Final scoreboard costs were $7,560, with Electrical hook up at $351, Banner Costs at $928 and scoreboard at $6,275. Austin Riemer and the clerk worked together to fund raise $11,190 for the scoreboard and the park. The remaining $3,630 will be used next spring for continued park improvements.

The board also discussed selling the old fire truck. It is being stored in the garage taking up valuable space and has not been used since it was donated to the village years ago. The board will ask the donor if they want it back before selling it.

The Village had MSA apply for an economic variance in 2016. It is not clear if the village will now qualify for this variance and may need to apply for the Multi Discharge Variance. The costs to the village, based on the current fee per milligram per liter charge, is estimated to be $5,000 per year. MSA will research options and consequences if the village doesn’t qualify for the Economic Variance. The village received a quote for radar speed signs, like the ones in Neillsville, and they’re $4,000 plus an additional $1,000 for solar power. The village will keep this option in mind as the police equipment is sold.
