Neillsville City Council Back Up to Full Staff

-The Neillsville City Council is up to full staff once again. At the previous council meeting, the city council accepted the resignation of former Mayor Steve Mabie after issues were brought to light regarding his residency. At that time, Council President and Ward 1 Alderman Chuck Glassbrenner was selected and sworn in as Mayor for the city. This left a hole in the council as there was no Ward 1 Alderman. At last night’s city council meeting, Mayor Glassbrenner asked the council to consider Joe Weirs as the 1st Ward Alderman. Weirs served on the council as the Ward 2 Alderman for a few years before moving out of Ward 2 and into Ward 1.
However, there was another man, Daniel Ettleson, who also threw his name into the hat for consideration. In the end, the council approved Weirs as the Alderman for Ward 1, but thanked Ettleson for his willingness to step up. The council then selected Jerry Quicker to act as the new Council President. After that, the council returned to regular business and approved several resolutions, including one supporting The Highground’s 30th Anniversary Celebration and Yellow Ribbon Campaign on September 22nd.
