Thursday, September 6th, 2018 -- 11:09 AM

-The Loyal School District has extra counselors and professionals on site as the community still reels from the deaths of members of the Fryman-Mews family.

Eric Fryman, and his three children, Kyra, Annaliese, and Jansen, died on August 30th when their kayak capsized on Lake Superior during a family vacation in Ashland County. One of the children attended the Loyal School District. District Administrator Cale Jackson issued the following statement: "It is with deep sadness that the School District of Loyal reports that one of their families has met with tragedy. We were informed by members of the Fryman-Mews family that on Friday, August 30, four of the five members of the Fryman-Mews family died while on a family vacation. The District has extra counselors/professionals on site to help students and staff with their grief. We have reached out to the family offering our condolences and support. The visitation will be held at the Loyal High School Gymnasium on Saturday, September 8, from 10 am - 1 pm, with the funeral following at approximately 1 pm. We have offered our support to the family and are respecting their right to privacy."

Preliminary autopsy results show that Eric died of hypothermia and the children died of hypothermia and possible drowning. The family has established an account at Partners Bank locations in Spencer and Marshfield. Funeral services are being held at the Loyal High School Gym at 1pm on Saturday, September 8th.
