Governor Walker Announces TEACH Grant Awards

-Governor Scott Walker announced $1.5 million in Technology for Educational Achievement, or TEACH, grant awards have been awarded to help 196 rural school districts and 172 rural public libraries to strengthen the information technology knowledge and capacity of educators.

The grants, awarded to different consortia comprised of different school districts and libraries, provide support for participating school districts and libraries to attend, arrange, and administer educator training activities that help expand digital learning and usage. Eligible applicants include consortia of three or more eligible rural school districts for the purpose of training teachers on the use of educational technology. Grants are available for districts that have fewer than 13 students per square mile.

There are some local districts and libraries receiving the grant funds. The consortium comprised of Cadott/Cornell/Stanley-Boyd/Thorp will receive $34,800. CESA 10 will receive $45,740 and those funds will be used at the Colby and Granton Area districts. The Clark County Technology Consortium will receive $22,641 and those funds will be used by the Greenwood, Loyal, Neillsville, Owen-Withee and Spencer school districts. And the Wisconsin Valley Library Service will receive $8,978 and those funds will be used by libraries Neillsville, Withee, Greenwood, Dorchester, Owen, Thorp, Loyal and Granton.
