(WDLB) -Governor Walker continued to tour the state over the weekend, leading up to tomorrow's partisan primary election.Walker's tour is taking him to 21 cities in five days, ending tonight. Among the visits he made on Saturday, the Governor stopped in Plover in Portage County, Wisconsin Rapids in south Wood County, and at the Clark County Fair in Neillsville.
The Governor stopped at a Republican party field office in Plover, a Wisconsin Rapids business that builds log homes, and the Republican party tent at the Clark County Fair. And while he was in Neillsville, Governor Walker announced that President Trump has approved a major disaster declaration for Clark and five other counties impacted by flooding earlier this summer in central and northwestern Wisconsin.
Besides Clark, the other counties named in the declaration are Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, and Iron. Severe storms moved across Wisconsin on June 16th. Heavy rains caused flash flooding and several rivers to rise to major flood stage. FEMA damage assessments showed more than 13-million dollars in damage to public infrastructure. Some of the eligible projects include repairs to roads and bridges, plus costs for debris removal. Local officials should contact their county emergency management director for more information.
