-A Marshfield woman charged with stealing prescription medications and money from vulnerable adults appeared in Wood County Court on Wednesday.According to court records, 33-year-old Amy Leikness attempted to convince a woman with memory problems to take out a $2,000 loan. This is after she had already taken $12,100 from the same woman’s bank account. Leikness was already facing similar charges in three other cases. In one case, Leikness told a woman in a wheelchair that she would work for her, but stole pain patches and almost $500 from her purse. In the 2nd case, Leikness stole pain medications from a woman suffering from leg pains. In the third case, she stole $1,000 from a Marshfield man after she promised to introduce him to a woman and help her move to Marshfield.
Leikness is charged with theft and bail jumping in this newest case and is facing several other charges in the previous cases including narcotic drug possession, theft by false representation and more. Probable cause was found during her preliminary hearing on Wednesday, so her court proceedings will continue. She’ll be back in court in August for arraignment. A $10,000 cash bond is set against her.
