(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -A dairy farmer from Lincoln County has been selected as the winner of a drawing for a free rollover protective structure at Wisconsin Farm Technology Days this month.Glen Wendt plans to retrofit an International 766 with the safety device. The ROPS drawing was part of a joint effort by McMillan-Warner Mutual Insurance Company of Marshfield and the National Farm Medicine Center to promote the Wisconsin ROPS Rebate Program. Wendt and his brother, Jack, farm together on the same operation established by their father. He said he plans to have the installation done by Cherokee Garage of Colby.
Tractor overturns are the leading cause of farm-related deaths in the U.S. That's why it's important that each tractor have a ROPS, according to the NFMC. The Wisconsin ROPS Rebate Program reimburses tractor owners up to 70 percent (maximum of $865) toward the total cost of purchasing, shipping and installing individual ROPS.
