-Ten central Wisconsin cities will receive part of a $26 million grant to replace aging water service lines.Gov. Scott Walker announced the grants Wednesday. Two local communities will receive a portion of that grant. Marshfield will receive $200,000 this year. They also received $300,000 last year. Thorp will receive $200,000 this year as well.
Property owners are typically responsible for aging lines that deliver drinking water from the municipalities main line to homes, schools and daycares. This funding source to municipalities lifts some of that financial burden from property owners.
