Granton Village Board Discusses Apartment Rental

-The Granton Village Board discussed an apartment rental agreement at their meeting on Wednesday of last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the board reviewed the Clark County Fair Market report showing the average 2 bedroom apartment rents for $689 per month plus utilities. This information was shared with the current renter and he was advised that a new contract would be signed September 1st of this year for the upcoming year. The board approved to continue to pay for the apartment utilities until September 1st and then raise the rent from $325 to $400 per month and have all utilities put in the name of the renter. The board also approved a couple donations for Fall Fest. The board approved to donate $500 to the Fall Fest Committee plus pay for 2 police officers during Fall Fest from 7p-1a on Saturday and 11a-4p on Sunday.
Also, a resident offered to cut the hay on the corner of Highway K. This keeps the weeds down and continues to promote the growth of the wild flowers. It was noted that there are restriction at the corner, but the requirements are that the area has to remain a green space. The green space is being maintained. Finally, the board tabled some building plans at 317 S. Main Street as the owner didn’t show up.
