-The Owen-Withee School Board heard a final report on the 2017-18 district budget.District Adiminstrator Bob Houts reviewed the 2017-18 budget, which showed spending exceeded revenues by about $14,000. The overage was due, in part, to some unforeseen issues like the maple syrup project, which will be repaid over time, and some personnel costs. Mr. Houts also reviewed two funds that needed transfers from the district’s general operating fund to make then balance for the end of the year. Special ed had a surplus of $5,127 while Food Service had a short fall of $15,985. The board unanimously approved the transfers.
The board also discussed the administrative decision that was made to not publish the monthly board meeting agendas in the two papers. This is not required by law for school districts to do and will save the district about $2400 per year. The district will continue to print the minutes and all legal notices to both papers.
