Thursday, July 12th, 2018 -- 11:02 AM
-There are many things happening at the 2018 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Wood County, just west of Marshfield. Some other events that happened yesterday include Miss Wisconsin Tianna Vanderhei was also at the show meeting people and talking about her run for Miss America this fall. Unofficial numbers from the Marshfield Municipal Airport show that over 50 airplane rides per day have circled D&B Sternweis Farms and Tent City. Attendance numbers are also not official, but it’s safe to say that “show organizers project attendance for the first two days of the show to be higher than the entire event of recent years.” Attendance for farm tours are approaching the 5,000 mark and continues to be one of the more popular activities among the visitors.
Local authorities say traffic flow has been extremely efficient with no major issues with vehicles coming and going from the show grounds. And a final neat fact for you, equine clinician Billy Yoder held a presentation early in the day, then quickly traveled to the Marshfield hospital to be with his wife as she was in labor. Once the baby was born, he returned just in time to hold his second daily session.
Some other items you can catch at Farm Tech Days today include the drawing for the Farm Tech Days raffle, held at 2:00 p.m., with the top prizes being a Green Egg grill, $1,000 & $500 cash prizes, a stainless steel fire pit and many other prizes. Also, field demos will go another day to show off vendors’ hay and forage equipment.
