-The Owen-Withee School Board heard an update on the wheelchair accessible van at their meeting on Monday.District Administrator Bob Houts reported that the wheelchair accessible van has been purchased and delivered. Brian Hansen of Executive Sales and Leasing delivered the van and trained OW staff on the safe use of the lift and restraints. The board also heard an update on the School Safety Grant. At the time of this meeting, they had not yet heard about the district’s status on the Safety Grant, but the Department of Justice contacted the district and needed a couple of minor revisions to the application. It was just after the meeting that they learned they had been selected to receive the grant and the projects will start in the next 30 days or so.
The board also discussed renewing their membership in the Wisconsin Association of School Boards. Annually, the board reviews its membership in the WASB. This year’s dues are $2,921. The dues include legal services, board development opportunities and policy guidance. The board unanimously approved renewing membership.
