Former Police Chief in Thorp Found Competent in Court

-Thorp’s former police chief was found competent to proceed with his court appearances.According to court records, a girl, who was around 6-year-old when the assaults happened, stated that Richard Boie touched her private areas on several occasions. The girl said the assaults happened at Boie’s home. Boie had a jury trial back in April and he was found guilty by the jury. A sentencing hearing was set for July.
However, a competency exam was asked for by Boie’s lawyer. During his appearance on Monday, Boie was found competent to continue with his court proceedings. He’s scheduled for sentencing tomorrow.
