If Your Heading to Farm Technology Days, Watch the Traffic
Monday, July 9th, 2018 -- 11:13 AM
-The Wood County Sheriff's Department in conjunction with the Wood County Highway Department, Town of Lincoln, City of Marshfield, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation has been working on a comprehensive traffic plan to adequately support the increase in traffic the local area will experience during Farm Technology Days.Through the planning of this event, the consortium has determined local roadways could see an increase of over 7,000 vehicles a day above the normal daily traffic in the area. Because of this increase, several precautionary measures will be put in place to make this as safe and efficient as possible. One of these measures involves the reduction of the speed limit on County Hwy. H and County Hwy. B, where the speed has been reduced from 55 miles per hour to 45 through July 15. During Peak arrival and departure times, traffic patterns will be continue to be adjusted to accommodate the increase of traffic. Additionally, authorities have worked with engineers in the City of Marshfield to re-time the traffic standards to better accommodate the increased number of vehicles through on Central Avenue.
The Marshfield Police Department has been involved in the planning process as their personnel will be needed in assisting with the directed flow of traffic. The Wisconsin State Patrol will also be assisting with this as several intersections have been identified as high traffic intersections. During the three day event, there will also be a number of closed roads in the area to help direct traffic to the appropriate parking areas. And several roads along the primary guide routes going through Marshfield will have signage indicating 'No Thru Traffic.'
