-Two people in Marshfield were warned after leaving their dogs in a vehicle on the 4th of July, one of the hottest days of the year.According to the Marshfield Police Department, they were called to Walmart because of a dog left in a vehicle with the windows cracked. They were also called to the Marshfield Mall for two dogs left in a car in the parking lot. One of the owners of the dog said they were only going to be 15-20 minutes and didn’t think that was long enough to be dangerous to the dogs.
The department said on a day like Wednesday, when temperatures reached 90 degrees, temperatures in the car can easily reach over 100 degrees within 10 minutes. Dogs can suffer from brain damage and death at those temperatures. The two people did receive a warning from the department.
