-The Neillsville School District has been the first Clark County School to receive funds from the Wisconsin Department of Justice for school safety. On Thursday, Attorney General Brad Schimel announced a list of 147 schools and school districts that have been awarded the next round of grants through the Wisconsin Department of Justice School Safety Grant program, administered by DOJ’s Office of School Safety. The Neillsville School District will receive $44,080, exactly what they requested in their application. During the Neillsville School Board meeting on Monday, and during my interview with Mr. Gaier on School Safety, he mentioned the school will be building vestibules at the main entrances of the school district.
With the intercom, this will allow people to be paged in during the day and all entrances will be locked once students arrive for the school day. The district will also line some of the windows and glass near the entrances with security film. This film provides extra levels of security from someone who may try and shoot or kick out the glass.
