-The State of Wisconsin has been hit with another massive heat wave for the weekend.Temperatures are expected to be in the mid and upper 90s with high humidity creating heat indices of well over 100 degrees. The worst of the heat and humidity is expected this afternoon. The Clark County Emergency Management Department has offered the following tips to help you stay safe: heed advisories and/or warnings which are issued and avoid extended periods of time outdoors as much as possible. Take breaks and avoid overexertion. You should also drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and avoid alcoholic beverages. Use sunscreen to protect yourself from sunburn.
Don’t forget about your pets. Make sure pets have plenty of fresh water and shelter from the heat. Finally, never leave pets or children in a vehicle, check on neighbors, especially the elderly or those with health problems and know the signs/symptoms of heat related illness. This can be very dangerous and may require immediate medical attention. Of course, with the heat and humidity, we could see a chance for severe weather Saturday and Saturday night.
