Semi vs. Van Accident on I-94 Near Black River Falls Early Tuesday Morning

-The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a semi vs. van accident early Tuesday morning.According to the report, the accident occurred around 1am on I-94 near Black River Falls. A semi was overturned on I-94, blocking all eastbound lanes. A minivan with 8 people inside was also involved in the accident. The semi, driven by Jason Gilberts of Minnesota, was traveling east in the inside lane of I-94, while the van, driven by Jayden Gjerseth of Black River Falls, was traveling east in the outside lane. The van sped up and tried to make a left hand lane change in front of the semi. The semi then struck the van. In trying to correct, the semi overturned and landed partially on the van.
The semi driver had non-life threatening injuries. All the occupants of the van were transported to area hospitals for their injuries. The driver of the van was transported by helicopter with life threatening injuries.
