2018 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Wood County, Volunteers

-In less than a month, the 2018 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days will get underway in Wood County.The event, happening from 9am-4pm, July 10th-12th at D&B Sternweis Farms, along with Weber’s Farm Store-Heiman’s Holsteins, on County Highway H near Marshfield, will feature over 600 exhibitors, innovation square, field demonstrations, virtual farm tours, delicious food and much more.
The large variety of events and the building of, essentially, a small city in the middle of a field takes a large group of committee members and volunteers to make everything happen. During the recent Media Day for the event, I spoke with Amber Cordes, the Volunteer Coordinator Committee, and she talked about how many volunteers they have, as of Tuesday, June 5th.
"Right now, we are at that 1,400 volunteer number and we do need that 1,500-1,800 number. So, we're a little short, but we're close"
She also talked about how they coordinate such a large group of volunteers.
"Excel! (Laughing) No, it's been really great. There's a really good pipeline we've got working. Everything kinda filters through me and then we get it out to our committee chairs and co-chairs and our liaisons and they're working, right now, really diligently on getting everybody scheduled that they have on their list and coordinating who's going to be where."
She also talked about where they can send people if they’re still interested in volunteering.
"We can work our hardest to try and get people where they want to help. Right now, we have a lot of the groups locked down. But we can see if there's different openings where they can fit in. We can try our best, if not, we can see if we can get you into your 2nd choice."
Once again, Farm Technology Days is happening from 9am-4pm, July 10th-12th at D&B Sternweis Farms, along with Weber’s Farm Store-Heiman’s Holsteins, on County Highway H near Marshfield.
