Clark County Experiencing Dry Conditions and High Fire Danger

Wednesday, June 16th, 2021 -- 12:00 PM

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is asking the public to stay vigilant and avoid burning due to high fire danger across much of the state.

Over half of the state is under high fire danger including Clark and our neighboring counties of Chippewa, Eau Claire, Jackson, and Wood.  Taylor and Marathon County are under moderate fire danger. Meanwhile, almost all of Wisconsin is experiencing drought conditions.

Clark County and all of our neighboring counties are experiencing abnormally dry conditions.  Southern Wisconsin is experiencing moderate drought conditions.  And a portion of southeastern Wisconsin is experiencing severe drought conditions.

The DNR reports that it has responded to 765 wildfires burning more than 1,900 acres so far this year.  According to the extended forecast from the National Weather Service, there are chances of rain later tonight, tomorrow, and tomorrow night.  There’s also a chance of rain on Sunday.
