One Person Involved Portage County Crash Dies

(WDLB) One of two people injured in a Portage County traffic accident earlier this week has died from his injuries.
According to WDLB, 23-year-old James Johnston of the town of Pine Grove died at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, where he was airlifted to following the early Monday morning crash, which occurred shortly before four a.m. on Harding Road near Mosquito Bluff Road, just east of I-39 south of Bancroft, in the Portage County town of Pine Grove.
According to the Portage County Sheriff’s Department, the pickup Johnston was in went off Harding Road and into a ditch, overturning several times. Johnston and another occupant, 22-year-old Dakota Baird from Adams County, were ejected from the vehicle.
Baird was transported to St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, treated for minor injuries, then released. The Portage County Sheriff’s Department and the State Patrol continue to investigate the crash.
