Secretary of Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Talks 2018 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days

-In less than a month, the 2018 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days will get underway in Wood County.The event, happening from 9am-4pm, July 10th-12th at D&B Sternweis Farms, along with Weber’s Farm Store-Heiman’s Holsteins, on County Highway H near Marshfield, will feature over 600 exhibitors, innovation square, field demonstrations, virtual farm tours, delicious food and much more.
During the Media Day for the event held last week, I spoke with Sheila Harsdorf, the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (or DATCP) and she explained the importance of an event like Farm Tech Days to the State of Wisconsin.
"Agriculture is a key industry in our state. And this is really an opportunity to really showcase, not only the industry here, but to see the new technologies and visit a farm and to see new equipment and new technologies that are taking effect in the industry."
She also thanked the host families for taking on this massive event.
"It's great to see the farmers that are willing to step forward and host the event. Because it is a tremendous amount of work, not only for the host family and, in this case, the families, but also the hundreds, literally hundreds of people that are volunteering to pull this off. For anyone who hasn't been to a Farm Tech Days, it's basically turning a farm field into a city, into a community. And so it's really an exciting opportunity. There's events and activities for everyone in the family. It truly is a family event. It's a time for farmers to see the latest technology and equipment. But also, there's family events, there's the family living tent, there's events for the kids. So, I just encourage everyone to take the time to stop out and check out what's happening in agriculture."
Once again, Farm Technology Days is happening from 9am-4pm, July 10th-12th at D&B Sternweis Farms, along with Weber’s Farm Store-Heiman’s Holsteins, on County Highway H near Marshfield.
