Tuesday, November 24th, 2020 -- 12:01 PM
-The Loyal School Board heard a facilities presentation at their recent meeting.
The board began with a facilities presentation by Miron Corporation and HSR. They reviewed their building improvement proposal and possible referendum timeline. These were preliminary proposals and their next step would be to gather community and staff input into a final proposal. The board also heard the long-term strategic plan. The Student Success Subcommittee reported on progress made since their last meeting. The highlights included working on resources to educate students, parents, and staff on internet safety; sending juniors to UWEC for their college fair and tours of the technical school and college; eighth grade participation in the Reality Store in Spencer; Mr. Bennett has been doing a great job as playground supervisor; improving GET time usage to include enrichment in leadership; working on ideas for a family fun night for staff; and a CPR Course offered to all staff members. As of right now, COVID restrictions have interfered with their progress. They are working on mental health resources for their staff and students.
They also reviewed the bus contract addendum which addresses COVID closures and funding, curriculum, extra duty, and LEG compensation; and, personnel issues. After reviewing two proposals, the board decided to renew the school property and liability insurance with Spectrum Insurance. In employment matters, Darin Bogdonovich was hired as a night custodian; Steve and Alison Schley, Jamie Wolf and Kristen Aumann were all hired as Elementary Girls Basketball Coaches; and Chris Lindner and Greg Brock were approved as Elementary Boys Basketball Coaches. The Title IX policy was also approved last night. They thanked Angie Kollmansberger for all her hard work on creating this policy. Finally, they have two board members up for re-election in Spring of 2021. They are Harlan Hinkelmann for the area North of Highway 98 and Carrie Becker for the City of Loyal.
