Illinois Man Appears in Jackson County Court for OWI

-An Illinois man stopped on I-94 near Osseo for OWI with a child in the vehicle appeared in Jackson County Court on Monday.According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, on April 1st, around 8pm, they stopped a vehicle going 88mph in a 70mph zone. When the trooper approached the vehicle, he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from it. After requesting backup, a field sobriety test was conducted on Manuel Rodriguez of Berwyn Illinois. He failed the test and was arrested and taken to the hospital for an evidentiary test. Rodriquez was then booked into the Jackson County Jail.
He’s being charged with 1st offense operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance with a child under 16 in the vehicle as a 5 year old was in the car when Rodriguez was arrested. He’s also being charged with possession. During his initial appearance, he entered not guilty pleas to the charges against him.
