Neillsville Holds Memorial Day Ceremonies

Tuesday, May 29th, 2018 -- 11:25 AM

-The City of Neillsville held their Memorial Day services on Monday with a ceremony and guest speakers.

Residents heard from speakers at the bridge over O’Neil Creek and the Neillsville City Cemetery. The following is a portion of some of the speeches given during those ceremonies.

"This day is sacred, with the almost visible presence of those that have gone before us. We honor the memory of those who gave their lives in the service of our country and of those others who have dropped their burdens by the wayside of life and are gone in their eternal rest. May the ceremonies of today deepen our reverence of our departed friends and comrades."

"They will speak to us. If you listen quietly, you can hear them. Remember their voices from conversations you've had before, they gave their last measure of devotion to this nation. And even if you're not a gold star family member, a battle buddy, friend or relative of a fallen hero, all you have to do is look around and you will see their legacy. It is us, Americans gathered in a free society, unified with a common purpose of honoring uncommon bravery."

Many events occurred in Neillsville, and throughout Clark County, to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and safety.
