Wisconsin Egg Production

Wisconsin egg production during April was 160 million eggs.That's up nine percent from last year, but down one percent from the previous month, according to the latest USDA Chickens and Eggs Report. The average number of all layers on hand last month was 6.85 million--up 14 percent from the same time in 2017. Eggs per 100 layers for April were 2,336, down four percent from last April. Nationally, egg output totaled 8.79 billion during April, up one percent from last year.
Production included 7.65 billion table eggs, and 1.14 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.06 billion were broiler-type and 79.6 million were egg-type. The average number of layers during the month totaled 386 million, up three percent from 2017. (Wisconsin Ag Connection)
