Thursday, May 24th, 2018 -- 10:12 AM

-The Neillsville School Board discussed employment matters at their meeting on Monday.

The board approved Megan Strobach for an elementary teaching position, Kirsty Fahey for an elementary teaching position and Jodi Rueth for a 7-12 vocal music teaching position. The board also approved the initial adoption of Policy GDA. The board also held a special meeting before their regular board meeting on Monday to discuss the possible expulsion of a high school student for conduct while at school and while under the supervision of a school authority which endangered the property, health or safety of others. In the end, the board agreed to expel a high school student for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year for repeated refusal or neglect to obey the rules of the school and for physically assaulting another student while at school and under the supervision of school authority.

The terms of the expulsion are that the student be expelled from the schools of the School District of Neillsville through June 5th of 2019; he student will be allowed to begin online classes beginning September 10th of 2018; the student cannot be on school grounds until June 6th of 2019, unless prior approval is given by administration; and the student can lose the 2nd term if the high school principal deems appropriate based on the student’s behavior.
