Central Avenue Project in Marshfield Delayed

(WDLB) -A Central Avenue project in Marshfield has been delayed until next year. The plan to resurface a portion of what is technically State Highway 97 between Arnold and Harrison Streets is getting bumped from this summer’s schedule. City officials say they’ve been told by the D-O-T that work will now occur in 2019. Mayor Bob McManus says the state dragged its feet on planning for the new road, and how to pay for it. McManus says the city had already started to make other improvements in preparation for the new street this summer.
Now he says Marshfield residents will have to wait another year for one of the city’s worst roads to get repaired. By pushing the project back and rebidding late this year and construction in 2019, the D-O-T says contractors will have better scheduling flexibility and the State anticipates more competitive bid pricing.
