Owen-Withee School Board Hears Administrators' Reports

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting last week.Jr/Sr High School Dean of Students Julie VanArk reported on a successful Community Service Day that was run on Monday. The junior high recognition dinner was held on Wednesday, May 2nd. The senior banquet took place on Wednesday, May 16th and graduation was on Saturday. Seniors finished the week with final exams on Wednesday and Thursday and were released early on Thursday. Graduation practice was held Friday. Final exams for underclassmen will be administered on May 23rd and 24th with the last day of school being May 25th. She also gave kudos to Autumn Quick who won 1st place in the state for the essay she entered in the American Legion Auxiliary Americanism Essay Contest.
District Administrator Bob Houts reported on a donation the district has received from Workforce Resource Incorporated of more than $10,000 in welding equipment and supplies. The district is working with CESA 10 to complete a School Safety grant through the State of Wisconsin. Finally, he discussed the alternative compensation model and how discussion with the staff went. While the meeting itself did not go well, a group of teachers has asked that the plan continue to be worked on and the board seemed willing to do so.
