Owen-Withee School Board Discusses Elementary Staffing

Friday, May 18th, 2018 -- 9:00 AM

-The Owen Withee School Board discussed elementary staffing for the next school year at their meeting on Monday.

District Administrator Bob Houts and Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor presented to the board the staffing plan for the elementary for 2018-19. The only major deviation from past plans is that the district will run with 3 sections of 4th grade next year. Traditionally, they have had three sections, if needed, in grades K-3 and gone with 2 sections in grades 4-6. Due to the large class size and some of the student needs, it was felt that three sections of 4th grade is in the district’s best interest. The board reviewed and approved the new Open Enrollment applications, both in and out. Four new enrollments will come into the district and six had to leave the district.

The support staff voted to approve the CPI increase offer of 2.13% from the board. The board voted unanimously to approve the increase. The teachers have not yet completed their vote to approve the CPI increase of 2.13% so the board voted to table this item until the June meeting. Finally, the board approved a wage increase of 2.13% for the administrative group.
