Tuesday, May 15th, 2018 -- 8:01 AM

-The Owen City Council discussed some street improvements at their meeting last week.

The council approved having the public works director looking into costs and available financing for 10th Street improvements. During the Public Opinion portion of the meeting, one resident voiced her displeasure of how the OW Enterprise is constantly misrepresenting the City of Owen, the City Council, and the City Employees. An employee with the paper apologized for the owner not being there due to illness, but she would answer questions in his place. The council then approved having the Sentinel & Rural News as the official newspaper for the City of Owen. Finally, the council heard the Community Development Authority’s Report. Tim Swiggum reported Heartland is still waiting for their wetland specialist.

The DRC discussed the Car Show which will be held Aug 18th, with Phil Kitze and the Resonators being the headliners for the evening street dance. Horseshoe pits have been moved to their new location and are in use. Finally, there is a Growin’ Owen volunteer/organizational meeting May 12th and a Public Hearing will be held in two weeks for discussion of the CDBG funding for the city to update their Comprehensive Plan.
