Wood and Jackson County Companies Selected for Foxconn Project

(WDLB) -Companies from Wood and Marathon Counties are among 27 announced yesterday as sub-contractors for the new Foxconn project in southeastern Wisconsin.MJM Truckin’ LLC from Nekoosa will be used as a trucking company for the first phase of developments in the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park. The County Materials Corporation from Marathon was chosen as a material manufacturer as well. Governor Scott Walker made the announcements concerning the Foxconn project at three locations today. Business owners and workers joined the Governor in Black River Falls, Brownsville and Racine. MJM is one of three female-owned businesses named as sub-contractors so far.
The announcements represent 100-million dollars’ worth of contracts, and the companies will now work to get the Foxconn site ready for construction, which is expected to get underway soon at the location near Interstate 94 at Mount Pleasant. The company plans to break ground at the site of the 10-billion dollar flat-screen plant by the end of this month, with operations starting late next year. The plant is expected to develop up to 13-thousand jobs.
