Neillsville Woman Arrested and Removed from City Council Meeting has Charges Against Her Dismissed

Thursday, May 3rd, 2018 -- 9:03 AM

-A Neillsville woman, who was arrested and removed from a City Council meeting, had the charges against her dismissed during her court appearance on Wednesday.

Back in October of 2017, Linda Montgomery appeared before the council to speak against an ordinance that had been passed regarding the use of sidewalks. Montgomery uses a personal scooter and has been seen driving on roads in busy traffic, sometimes with kids on the scooter. She became very belligerent towards the council and mayor, swearing at them and making false accusations. At this point, Neillsville’s Police Chief, and two officers who were present at the meeting because they knew she was coming, escorted her out of city hall.

As she continued to swear, make false accusations and be disorderly, she was arrested and taken to the Clark County Jail. She had been charged with resisting/obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct, but the charges against her were dismissed on the prosecutor’s motion. Montgomery is still facing several sidewalk violations by the City of Neillsville.
