Neillsville City Council Hears Water Quality Report

The Neillsville City Council heard a report on the city’s water quality at their meeting on Tuesday.The goal of the report is designed to inform residents about the quality of water and services they deliver to them every day.
Neillsville’s water system had no violations and the city’s drinking water meets or exceeds all federal and state requirements. Some examples of the contaminants and the levels found in the water include copper and lead. The action level of copper 1.3 in water is 1.3 parts per million. Neillsville had .2240 parts per million of copper in the water. The action level for lead in water is 15 parts per billion and Neillsville had 2.97 parts per billion of lead in the water.
There are other inorganic and disinfection contaminates found in the water as well, but all levels are within the proper level.
The report also talked about the city’s cross connection program, which is a part of the city’s effort to ensure safe and reliable drinking water. A cross connection is a point in a plumbing system where the potable water supply is connected to a non-potable source. They also offered tips on avoiding contamination of your drinking water.
