Granton Village Board Hears Water Report
Friday, April 20th, 2018 -- 9:03 AM
-The Granton Village Board heard the Water Report at their meeting last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the non-compliance report from the DNR with the corrections was presented to the board. There are two unresolved issues. A resident has been given several notifications over the years that he must provide water samples of his well water to ensure the water sample is clear from contaminants that may filter into the village’s water supply. He has ignored all requests. The village has 60 days to respond to the DNR with the required information. The resident will be notified and fines will be issued if samples are not provided. Also, the DNR required back flow preventers be used when accessing water from the hydrants. The village has purchased a back flow preventer; however, the fire department will need to purchase one as well or follow specific guidelines when filling their trucks. The village will attend the Fire Department Meeting to advise and submit meeting minutes from the fire department meeting to the DNR.
The board also heard the Treasurer’s Report. The beginning balance in checking was $146,799.97 and ending balance is $111,809.07. Beginning balance in the money market account was $443,143.04 and ending balance is $443,473.28. The village received a lottery credit in the amount of 3$,488.72. Transportation Aid was received in the amount of $7,349.69. Mobile home tax credit was received in the amount of &171.72. The 1st Quarter budget was presented and reviewed and noted expenses continue to average $40,000 per month. Finally, during the open forum, it was mentioned that the rotary volunteered to plant the flower garden around the flag in the cemetery and advised they’ll be working on a Welcome to Granton packet for new residents.
