Tuesday, April 17th, 2018 -- 9:02 AM
-The Granton Village Board heard a presentation on grants available at their meeting last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, Cooper Engineering gave an informative presentation on grants currently available to assist the village as they explore ideas supporting economic development. These options will be discussed for possible implementation. The PSC Report was also presented to the board members. The net operating income percentage is 9.7% and the net operating income is $26,544. Finally, a suggestion was made to the village to research placing garbage cans on the sidewalks to help keep litter down. The cost for 3 garbage cans and pick up would be $468 per year. The board discussed a few challenges with that.
The cans would need to be removed every snow fall to allow for snow removal, storms may be an issue with cans blowing over and the primary concern is how to prevent unwanted garbage such as electronics from being placed in the cans. Also noted was that the village does not really have an issue with garbage in the streets. A unanimous decision was made not to place the cans on the sidewalk at this time.
