Owen-Withee School Board Discusses Snow Days

-The Owen-Withee School Board discussed making up a snow day at their meeting last week.After reviewing a couple of options related to the third snow day they experienced on April 3rd, the board, on a voice vote, unanimously approved forgiving the third snow day provided there is not a fourth day yet this year. Should there be a fourth day, the board will look at the possibility of making up both the third and fourth days after Memorial Day, May 29th and 30th. The board also discussed a new position at the district. District Administrator Bob Houts presented the idea of changing what the district does with their IMC position. The idea is to have a certified IMC/Library person on a part time basis, one day a week, to meet DPI requirements.
A new position would be created that would be responsible for elementary library skills, working with students and staff on technology integration and serving as an instructional coach to work with teachers, new and veteran, on implementing the many curricular programs they offer. The board was receptive to the idea and asked that more information and a clearer description of what this person would do be brought to the May meeting.
