Owen-Withee School Board Approves Renewal of Student Insurance

-The Owen-Withee School Board approved the renewal of their student insurance at their meeting last week.On a voice vote the board unanimously approved the renewal of Student Accident Insurance provided by Student Assurances Services. After reviewing the premiums we have paid over the past four years ($31,124) and the benefits paid out ($37,757.39) it was clear to the board that a $450 increase was justified. Premium for the 2018-19 school year will be $9480. This is secondary insurance that helps to cover expenses for school-related injuries after a student’s family insurance pays. Also, the board unanimously approved going into another three-year lease for student computing devices and related equipment.
This will be the third lease agreement for the district, which provides computing devices for each student in grades 5-12 and carts that are shared in grades 4K??"4th grade. Finally, because of an error in reading a calendar a concert and the May board meeting is not an issue. The May meeting will be Monday, May 14th and does not conflict with any concerts.
