-Charges against two people arrested after police chase near Osseo are being dismissed.Back in January, DCI Agents and members of the Marathon County Special Investigations Unit requested assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol in stopping two vehicles suspected of transporting a large amount of illegal contraband. When authorities tried to conduct the stop, both suspects fled. 32-year-old Joel Helding of Tomahawk was arrested after a short pursuit and foot chase in Osseo. 25-year-old Valerie Flores of Wausau was arrested after her chase led authorities through Trempealeau, Jackson, Eau Claire, and Clark Counties. 290 pounds of marijuana, guns and other items were seized after the arrest.
Both Helding and Flores were facing multiple charges in Trempealeau County. However, prosecutors are moving to dismiss those charges after a federal grand jury in Madison indicted them on the same charges. They could spend 40 years in prison if found guilty and sentenced to the maximum amount.
