Granton School Board Approves Several Items Regarding their Pool Project

-The Granton School Board approved several items regarding their pool and locker room construction project.A representative from CESA 10 updated the board on the progress of the pool and locker room. The board approved the painting contract bid to Jerry’s Painting, the structural contract bid to Gaier Construction, the civil engineering and surveying contract bid to CBS Squared and the ADA Pool Lift bid to Neuman Pools. The board also approved the Shared Teacher Agreement with the Loyal School District for the Library Media Specialist for the 2018-19 school year. Finally, the board approved the CESA Service Contract for the 2018-19 school year and approved changing the July Board Meeting date to Monday, July 23rd. The board also heard the Administrators’ Report. Superintendent Scott Woodington reported on several school safety initiatives that were passed by the legislature.
The items include creating an Office of School Safety in the Wisconsin Department of Justice (which will focus on training and resources for schools), $100 million to fund a grant program for school security upgrades, mandate reporting threats of school violence and require schools to partner with local law enforcement to do security assessments of buildings. Finally, he mentioned with the additional snow days in March, the school district will make up instructional minutes by changing May 11th from an early release day for students to a full student day. In addition, teachers will also make up time on Friday June 8th.
