Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week, Being Disaster Ready
Friday, April 6th, 2018 -- 10:23 AM
-Next week is Wisconsin’s Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week.Clark County Emergency Management, Wisconsin Emergency Management, ReadyWisconsin and the National Weather Service also wants to remind residents that next week is perfect time to make sure you and your family are prepared for a disaster, be it weather related or some other type of disaster. Your family may not be together if a disaster strikes, so it is important to know which types of disasters could affect your area. Know how you’ll contact one another and reconnect if separated. Establish a family meeting place that’s familiar and easy to find. Put together a plan by discussing 4 questions with your family: how will I receive alerts or warning; what is my shelter plan; what is my evacuation route; what is our communication plan?
You also need to consider specifics of your household for your home including items like dietary needs, ages, disabilities, medical needs and more. Finally, you should fill out your emergency plan and then practice it with your family.
