Granton Village Board Discusses Park Updates
Monday, March 19th, 2018 -- 10:12 AM
-The Granton Village Board discussed park updates at their meeting last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the village will be building the pavilion shelter by the pond this spring. This will be paid for with donation money. Signage for the campground sites will be ordered this month. The shelters at the park need to be reroofed and the village will get price quotes for metal roofs. Concession doors have been purchased and will be installed this spring. Electricity upgrades in the pavilion areas will be looked at this summer. The concrete in the girl’s bathroom heaved and they cannot open the door. The village will watch this and hopefully with the thaw it will drop. The village has also reached out to the Regional Planning committee to start getting Granton’s name out there. Developing the corner on highway 10 with some kind of signage continues to be talked about.
The board also heard the Water Report. The DNR inspection was Monday Feb 19th with seven deficiencies identified. The village needs to create a cross connection spread sheet, provide a monitoring plan for lead and copper, have back syphon protection, abandon or provide a well permit for the Mike Kurth property, provide an inventory for service materials, and replace a check valve at well 5 and noted there were some water samples that were missed in 2017. Also, water loss for the village is greater than 10%. It was stated the village should be testing 16 meters each year. This would help identify water loss.
