Granton Village Board News

The Granton Village Board discussed an anti-syphon meter at their meeting on Wednesday.At the annual inspection, the DNR advised that the village is required to have an anti-syphon meter for the hydrants that prevents water back washing into the drinking water when hooking up to a hydrant. This would include the fire department as well. A motion to purchase an anti-ayphon meter for $639.95 was made and approved. The fire department was contacted to let them know that they are required to use an anti-syphon meter as well when hooking up to the hydrants. The board also reviewed the lighting contract from Xcel. There are some electrical upgrades the village will be require to integrate and the costs at this time are unknown. The village will contact an electrician to get a quote. Until then, a motion to sign and approve the lighting contract as written was made and approved.
The village board also heard an update on the stump removal project. Stumpy and Grumpy’s was contacted for a quote. Grinding costs are a $1.50 per inch. There are 7 stumps in the village right of way to be ground. The estimate is 350 inches so the village cost will be approximately $500. The board approved the cost.
