Owen-Withee School Board Report

The Owen-Withee School Board discussed the Early College Credit Program at their meeting on Monday.The board reviewed the ECCP, 4 year college, and Start College Now, Technical College, applications that students submitted before the March 1st deadline. Seventeen students have requested 25 courses be approved for the fall semester. The board unanimously approved the ECCP and Start College Now applications. The board also discussed a golf club for 2018. Josh Jalling and several high school students and parents were at the meeting to request approval for a Golf Club team this spring with the hopes of having a WIAA eligible team in 2019. Twelve students have given firm commitment to the team for this spring, none of which are seniors. The board unanimously approved supporting the club team this spring and will evaluate the approval of a WIAA team at the April or May meeting. The deadline for sponsoring a team in the 2018-19 school year is June 1st of this year.
The board also heard about the FFA 212/Edge Conference. District Administrator Bob Houts notified the Board the Mr. Engel and Ms. Arndt will be taking 30 students, FFA members and Jr. High Student Council members, to the 212/Edge Conference in Manitowoc March 23rd and 24th.
He also notified the board that the softball team will be doing a team bonding/family outing April 6th-8th in the Wisconsin Dells.
