Granton School Board Approves Several Items

-The Granton School Board approved several item at their meeting on Monday.The board approved the Middle School Boys’ Baseball program for this year, they approved the electrical contract bid to TJ Electric Inc. and they approved the mechanical contract bid to Complete Control Inc. Also, the board approved the plumbing contract bid to Suda Plumbing Inc., the Senior Class Trip to Action City in Eau Claire and the 2018-19 School Calendar. The board also heard the Superintendent’s Report. Superintendent Scott Woodington presented information on creating Fund 46 for future capital improvement projects. Also, several school safety initiatives are being proposed. School Safety Exemptions are being discussed which would allow school districts to exceed their revenue limit. Another suggestion included creating grants to be used to hire additional staff to work with students in response to mental health issues.
He also stated that with the additional snow days in February, the school district will not need to make up instructional minutes; however, they will make up the time if there are any other snow days. Finally, he stated the Legislative meeting in Medford on March 5th was cancelled due to weather and will not be rescheduled.
