Marshfield Man Sentenced for Stealing from Employer

(WDLB, WCCN) -A Marshfield man accused of stealing from his former employer was sentenced in Wood County Court last week.Adam Karau was charged with theft in a business setting. According to the criminal complaint, Karau stole money from Lammar’s Smokehouse between July and November of last year. Lammar’s owner became suspicious of Karau when he noticed more than 70 voided transactions in a four-month period, as well as a transaction involving a fraudulent gift card. When questioned by police, Karau admitted to falsifying voided transactions and taking the money, as well as the gift card transaction.
Karau was found guilty, due to a not contest plea, of theft of a business setting. He was sentenced to 1 year probation with a condition of 30 days jail time. He also owes the courts $1,558.65.
