Marshfield Area Pet Shelter has Successful Fundraiser

(WDLB) -More than 800 people dug out of Saturday's snowstorm to make it to a Sunday breakfast fundraiser.The Marshfield Area Pet Shelter held its seventh annual fundraising event at the Holiday Inn Convention Center downtown. MAPS President Karen Rau said it's the group's biggest fundraiser of the year by far. And besides caring for animals, Rau says MAPS now has two full-time staff people to support, and she's hoping to add more in the near future. Last year's breakfast raised over 13-thousand dollars, and a record one-thousand-plus people turned out. She says the organization won't do that well this year. As for upcoming fundraisers, Rau says MAPS will hold a "Paint Your Pet" event at the Marshfield Mall on April 22nd.
With the help of an artist from southern Wisconsin, Rau says you can paint your pet on a canvas. The cost is 60-dollars. The annual "Paws For Brittany" run/walk in memory of Brittany Zimmerman will be held May 12th at Wildwood Park. And MAPS is doing a new fundraiser this summer--"Putts For Pets"--a golf outing August 17th.
