The Granton Village Board Held a Special Economic Development Meeting
Sunday, February 25th, 2018 -- 6:55 AM
The Granton Village Board held a Special Economic Development meeting after their regular meeting last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the purpose of the special meeting was to discuss ideas to improve Granton’s economic standing. The meeting included community members, school board members and more.
The board heard an update from Cooper Engineering in regards to economic growth for Granton.
Cooper Engineering advised that typically you need to be able to supply 100 gallons of water per day person and that you need to stay below 90% capacity to keep the DNR from stepping in. Based on the village’s water capacity, they could add 25 household with 2 people per household easily. Small businesses could be included in this as well. Larger industries may tax the current system.
Organic loading is set at 164 people per day for residential.
If the village can control wet weather flow, runoff and cross connections, the village could easily add a residential area.
Cooper Engineering identified a 13 acre piece owned by the village directly across from the school that would be a good location to build. The village will research and investigate how it received this land and if there are any stipulations.
