Neillsville Winter Carnival Begins, Tonight's Activity Includes Miss Winter Carnival

-The Neillsville Winter Carnival is taking place this weekend.The carnival starts tonight with the Miss Winter Carnival Pageant. There are five contestants and they are Marie Jorgensen, Vickie Ratsch, Morgan Gurney, Kyra Rakovec and Mackenzie Keller. The judging process follows along the same lines as the Miss Neillsville contestants experience during Heritage Days but will not be as intense or require an on stage speech. They will each meet individually with our judges and be asked a series of questions. During the pageant they will also answer an onstage question that the judges will take into consideration. If they are selected, Miss Winter Carnival and her runner up will attend various functions throughout Winter Carnival weekend with the Miss Neillsville Court. They'll be assisting with these events and really getting a chance to see what it will be like to run for Miss Neillsville one day.
While the Miss Winter Carnival duties end at the end of the weekend, the hope is that the weekend of activities will inspire more contestants to stay interested in the program as they get older. Next year, Miss Winter Carnival 2018 will be invited back to crown the next Miss Winter Carnival.
